On startup several times black screen. Moving mouse or touching pad sometimes shows startup screen.
HP diagnose done, no errors found, windows up to date. Restart sometimes helps, also have torestart once more.

Hi @RKK-secretaris,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Black screen startup!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Your HP Pavilion 15-cs3523nd is experiencing intermittent black screen issues on startup, which could be caused by several factors, including graphics driver problems, fast startup issues, or hardware faults. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and fix it:
Check Display Output:
- Try pressing Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset the graphics driver.
- If the screen remains black, connect an external monitor (HDMI) to check if the issue is with the laptop’s display.
Try a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
- Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and restart.
Disable Fast Startup
Windows Fast Startup can sometimes cause black screen issues:
- Press Win + R, type powercfg.cpl, and hit Enter.
- Click “Choose what the power buttons do” (left panel).
- Click “Change settings that are currently unavailable”.
- Uncheck “Turn on fast startup (recommended).”
- Save changes and restart.
Update Graphics Drivers (Safe Mode)
If the black screen persists, update the GPU drivers:
Boot into Safe Mode
- Turn on the laptop and force shutdown (hold power for 5 seconds) three times to trigger Windows recovery mode.
- Go to Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- Press 4 to boot into Safe Mode.
Update Graphics Driver
- Press Win + X → Device Manager → Display adapters.
- Right-click on the Intel UHD Graphics (or NVIDIA/AMD) and select Update Driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart and check if the issue is resolved.

Check for Windows Corruption
Run the following commands in Command Prompt (Admin):
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Type: sfc /scannow
- Press Enter and wait for it to complete.
- Then run: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Restart and check if the issue persists.
Adjust Power & Sleep Settings
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
- Set “Turn off screen” to Never while plugged in.
- Under Additional power settings, select High performance mode.
BIOS & Firmware Update
Sometimes, an outdated BIOS can cause startup display issues.
- Go to HP’s official support page and enter your model (HP Pavilion 15-cs3523nd).
- Check for a BIOS update.
- Download and install it carefully.
Let me know how it goes.
