Hi @Lenay,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP screen says “Working on updates. Do not turn off your computer,” it means Windows is installing updates.
Basic Steps to Try:
- Force Restart the PC:
- Hold the power button for at least 10–15 seconds until it fully shuts down.
- Wait 10 seconds, then press the power button to turn it back on.
- If It Still Doesn’t Boot:
- As the PC powers on, immediately start tapping the Esc key repeatedly (once every second) to open the Startup Menu.
- If that works, press F2 for System Diagnostics and run a quick hardware test.
- Try a Windows Recovery:
- If you get the HP or Windows logo, force shutdown again during startup 2–3 times in a row — this may trigger the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).
- From there, you can choose Startup Repair or System Restore.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
