Hi @TK140,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Laptop 14s is encountering a critical issue with the operating system, leading to a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and an unsuccessful attempt at automatic repair. Here are some steps you can follow to try resolving this.
Boot into Safe Mode
- Turn off your laptop, then turn it on and immediately start pressing the F8 or Shift + F8 key repeatedly until the Windows Recovery Environment appears.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- When it restarts, press the key to enable Safe Mode (usually 4 or F4).
If you can boot into Safe Mode:
- Uninstall any recently installed drivers or software that could be causing the issue.
- Run a virus/malware scan to check for any infections.
Use System Restore
- Boot into the Windows Recovery Environment (use the method above).
- Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the issue started and follow the prompts.
Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM
- In the Windows Recovery Environment, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt.
- Run the following commands:
- sfc /scannow – This will check and repair system files.
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth – This will repair the Windows image.
Reset or Reinstall Windows
If none of the above works:
- In the Windows Recovery Environment, go to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
- Choose whether to keep your files or remove everything and follow the instructions.
Alternatively, you may need to reinstall Windows using a bootable USB drive.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
