HP Notebook - 15-db1061au
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Today I erased old system files from hdd "Win C disk partition "after transferring it to ssd yesterday. It worked normally until I uninstall Comodo antivrus and internet security. Then after I restart. It went into auto recovery loop saying it can't find recovery files even though I have it on one of hdd partitions "Disk D". In Hp diagnosis no failures occurred yet.

Hi @Taimi1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Notebook - 15 is having trouble finding the necessary recovery files after moving your system files to the SSD and uninstalling Comodo antivirus. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you address this issue.

Check Boot Order in BIOS:

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 (depending on the model) to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Go to the Boot menu and ensure that your SSD is set as the primary boot device.

Repair Boot Files:

  • If you have a Windows installation media (USB or DVD), boot from it.
  • Select Repair your computer on the installation screen.
  • Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair and follow the prompts.

Rebuild BCD:

  • Boot from the Windows installation media as above.
  • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
  • In the Command Prompt window, type the following commands and press Enter after each:

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

bootrec /scanos

bootrec /rebuildbcd

  • Restart your computer and check if it resolves the issue.

Restore from Backup:

  • If you have a system image backup or recovery files on Disk D, try restoring from those.
  • You can access this through Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Image Recovery if you have a system image backup.

Check Disk Health:

  • Boot into the Command Prompt as above.
  • Run the following command to check for disk errors:

chkdsk /f /r C:

  • Replace C: with the letter of your SSD if different.

Reinstall Windows:

  • If none of the above steps work, you may need to perform a clean installation of Windows.
  • Boot from the Windows installation media.
  • Follow the instructions to install Windows, making sure to select the SSD as the installation drive.

Restore Comodo Antivirus:

  • As a last resort, reinstalling Comodo Antivirus might help if the issue is related to the uninstallation process.

Make sure to back up any important data before performing major repairs or reinstallations.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
