Hi @maryparke,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Inaccessible Boot Device" error on a blue screen usually indicates a problem with your computer's boot process. Here are some possible causes and solutions for this error.
- Corrupted or outdated drivers: This error can occur if the drivers that are required for the boot process are corrupted or outdated. Try booting your computer in Safe Mode and updating or reinstalling the drivers.
- Damaged hard drive: A damaged hard drive can also cause this error. Try running a disk check to scan for errors on your hard drive.
- Incorrect boot order: Make sure that your computer is set to boot from the correct device (such as your hard drive or SSD) in the BIOS settings.
- Hardware issues: Faulty hardware components, such as a damaged hard drive or RAM, can cause this error. Try running hardware diagnostics to identify any issues.
- Operating system corruption: In some cases, the operating system itself may be corrupted. Try booting from a Windows installation media and using the repair or restore options to fix any issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
