Try these steps:
1. Update Drivers
Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause the DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION error.
Update Drivers via Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand categories (e.g., Display adapters, Disk drives, Network adapters).
- Right-click on each device and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
HP Support Assistant:
- Open HP Support Assistant on your laptop.
- Select Check for updates and messages.
- Allow the tool to download and install any updates available.
2. Update BIOS
An outdated BIOS may also lead to this error.
- Check for BIOS Updates:
- Visit the HP Support page for your laptop.
- Enter your model number (7N772AV) and find the Drivers & Software section.
- Look for BIOS updates and download the latest version.
- Follow the instructions provided by HP to update the BIOS.
3. Check and Update Storage Controllers
Sometimes, the error is due to outdated IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
- Update Storage Controllers:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
- Right-click on Standard SATA AHCI Controller and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
4. Run System File Checker (SFC)
Corrupted system files can cause the DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION error.
- Run SFC Scan:
- Press Windows + X and select Windows Terminal (Admin).
- Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
- Wait for the scan to complete and follow any on-screen instructions to repair system files.
I hope this helps.
