Hello,

My brand new laptop from best buy keeps freezing with any minor work load. The issue I noticed was with lightroom classic, Spotify and google chrome. It happens every so often where screen goes black with blue loading circle then blue screen of death with different error codes everytime I've attached one of them. I would ideally want to return the laptop and get a new one but bb is out of stock. I like the laptop so all help is appreciated. I updated all drivers, windows update, hp assistant but nothing flags. My device has an nvidia graphics card and kaspersky service cloud running.

Thank you for the help.

Hi@sgavit11, Welcome to the HP Support Community! Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

First, let's start with performing a hard reset on the PC to release any excessive static/power that could have caused the issue.

Turn off the computer.

Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.

Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Press and hold down the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.

Press the Power button to turn on the computer.

If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, and then press the Enter key.

Second, you can check if there is Bios update available for your PC, here is the link to download.

Performing a test on the Hard drive as well as on the Memory from the Hardware diagnostics:
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F2 once for System Diagnostics.
4) Go to Component test.
5) Run extensive Memory and Hard Drive test.

Depending on the test results, If the test passes then I would suggest you perform a complete system recovery.

Note: Recovery will wipe off everything from the computer. If you have anything important get in touch with some local stores to get your data backed up.

Click here to know: How to perform each step.

For more details, you can try these documents as well.

And if the issue persists, please Contact HP as this could be a hardware failure.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I have the exact same problem since november... Did you find a solution?

Now it's turning off every 15-20 min.

I did all the steps in the previous comments. The time between the blue screen has now reduced but it's still there. Am currently in talks with HP

I spent a lot of time online ... A LOT...
I think you should go to the Event Viewer and check the exact type of error. (Check: https://windowsreport.com/bsod-log-file-location/) and look for specific answers online.
In my case it was a Kernel Power 41 (63). And after trying everything, EVERYTHING.... it looks like the AC adapter was broken as in this post:

(you can check it for other possible explanations/solutions of this error)
Hope it helps!!

Hi@clausok,

Request you to follow the below troubleshooting steps:-

  1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
  2. Click Advanced system settings.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. In the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings.
  5. Click to clear the Automatically restart check box.

If you've been using the Recovery Partition (F11) to reinstall the OS, I recommend using the Recovery media instead to wipe out the HDD and create a new partition and fresh OS installation: Click here to obtain one, if you don't have on in your possession.
