Two days ago when I started my HP laptop, instead of my usual sign on screen, the screen was back and at the bottom it said it was trying to create a repair. That failed, it then went to a blue screen and said to restart.  I did that, same result.  Back at the blue screen it gave an option for advanced possible repairs.  Went to that, one was revert to earlier date and time.  I've done this before so I tried that.  Brought up my name and my email address.  I clicked that and it asked for a password.  Never asked for password to do revert before.  Wasn't sure which password it wanted.  So I tried a very common one of mine, incorrect, tried another, incorrect, tried another, same result.  I have a print out of every password I've used for 2 decades.  Tried them all, same result.   Now this laptop is about 6 years old and is a WINDOWS 10, NOT upgradable.  Yesterday, I ordered a brand new HP laptop.  I love HP products, always have.  BUT I need to get my old laptop to open up again so I can transfer the important info to my new laptop when it arrives on or about June 16.  Please give me a clue as to how to get my laptop off this blue screen so I don't lose the last six years of my life that I have saved, but not in a cloud.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Blue Screen on HP Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

You are experiencing a blue screen error on your HP laptop, which leads you to the Advanced Options for repairs without success. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Access Safe Mode:

  • Step 1: Restart your laptop.
  • Step 2: While the laptop is restarting, repeatedly press the F8 key (typically used for Windows 7) or Shift+F8 key for newer versions.
  • Step 3: From the Advanced Boot Options menu, select "Safe Mode".

Perform System Restore in Safe Mode:

  • Step 1: On the blue screen, select "Advanced Options".
  • Step 2: Choose the "System Restore" option.
  • Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system to an earlier point before the issue occurred.

Check for Disk Errors:

  • Step 1: Open Command Prompt from the Advanced Options menu.
  • Step 2: Type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter.
  • Step 3: Allow the system to check for disk errors and repair them. This process may take some time.

Use HP Support Assistant:

  • Step 1: If you can access Safe Mode, download and install HP Support Assistant from the HP website.
  • Step 2: Run the HP Support Assistant to check for driver updates or any other issues.

Update Drivers and BIOS:

  • Step 1: In Safe Mode, ensure that your drivers are up to date by checking for updates through Windows Update or the HP Support Assistant.
  • Step 2: Visit the HP website to check for the latest BIOS updates specific to your laptop model.

Reset the PC:

  • If none of the above solutions work, consider resetting your PC. This can be done through the Advanced Options menu and choosing "Reset this PC". Note that this may erase your files, so it’s best to back up any important data if possible.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
