HP Notebook 17-x103na Serial [edited]
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop has been running very slowly for quite a while so I decided to reset it and reload Windows.
I tried using Windows 10 "Reset my PC " option but it couldn't do it.

I tried using the HP pre-installed software, however it came to a certain point, said it couldn't complete it, very briefly showed an error code and then a screen that looks ike the below.

I followed the instruction at the weblink but no Optane memory was located and i also couldnt locate the "UEFI HII Configuration > Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology" setting.

I am stuck now. Any suggestions?

Hello @Graeme761

You now see this message because you have tried some recovery methods but they have failed.

Built-in recovery mechanisms may fail for the following reasons:

  • Hardware issue - usually HDD / SSD problem
    or
  • Software problem - the recovery software/partition has gone corrupted

Steps for solution:

  1. Please, test your hardware to rule out hardware issues. Make sure you perform quick or fast test, or run-in test - whatever is available for your machine. Use the Esc/F2 option. Here is an official video you may watch >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JXUp43ahHA

If the tests pass without problem, continue.

       2. Check the attached PDF file below and follow the steps to reinstall Windows.

Hi, thanks very much for your reply.

I had got quite a long way down the suggested route. I had undertaken hard drive and memory test, downloaded the Microsoft media creation tool and got to the stage where I could see the hard drives and partitions but got stuck there as I was reluctant to delete / change and of the partitons.

Your advice suggested delting the partitons and reinstalling on just the 0 partition.

I am pleased to say that this worked perfectly and I am now up and runnign again.

Thanks.
