The first thing I would do is check and disconnect any USB media that is connected to the notebook and reboot PC.
If still same error then I would suspect the hard disk to be at fault here - remove the hard disk and slave to another a desktop PC and confirm whether it is accessible - if so then run a chkdsk command on the hard drive then reconnect back and boot up.
