Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome onbord!

With regards to the admin code you were give, please keep the power button hold for a while till PC shuts down. Start it again by using the power-on button and

as soon as you do it, keep hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap) - you will enter HP boot menu like this:

Press F10 to enter BIOS and when it asks for password, please enter this code 76491815  to ENTER.

Follow the on-screen instructions to change the password or remove it.

With regards to the error you get about "Boot device not found, etc..." , please perform these tests to check your hardware prior to attempting recovery.

Start computer again by using the power-on button and

as soon as you do it, keep hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap) and you will enter HP boot menu. Choose F2 and follow the on-screen instructions to perform System test >>> QUICK test. More information can be found here

It should check these components:

    Battery check
    Processor check
    System board check
    Hard drive SMART check
    Hard drive short DST check
    Memory quick check

Hopefully, tests will pass. Please, let me KNOW if they fail.

If tests pass, you can proceed with the F10 option for recovery to return the PC to factory default condition.

I'm glad the unlock password worked. If all hardware checks passed fine, you can proceed with the needed recovery.

Here is an HP article about performing recovery one machines with Windows 8

When I click F2 it passes all text... i can't get into the computer to do the steps on those. I'm stuck on this screen that says Boot Device Not Found please install an operating system on your hard disk hard disk 3F0 i can now get into the F10 screen though

Every HP computer which Windows was preinstalled by HP before you purchased your computer (a.k.a. OEM Windows) has recovery partitions by HP so that you can boot from them and perform the recovery to factory default condition. If the recovery partitions are there (not deleted) and if they are intact, recovery should work fine.

You do not need to go to Windows, please press F11 and follow the on-screen instructions to complete recovery. Please, review all the steps in the HP article as well as the whole video.

@kailamerritt You tap F11 to enter Recovery. IT_Winsec corrected his post to reflect that above.

I am sorry - in the prior post of mine I might have mistyped F10, but the correct one is F11

Please, hit F11 to start the recovery

F10 is for entering BIOS/UEFI
