Hi @Frida221989

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your new HP laptop is displaying the message "Boot Device not found," it suggests that the system is having trouble locating a valid bootable device, such as the operating system or the bootable drive. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check Boot Order in BIOS/UEFI:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS or UEFI settings. This is usually done by pressing a key (like Esc, F2, F10, or Del) during the boot process. The key to access the BIOS/UEFI varies by manufacturer, so check your laptop's manual or HP's website for the specific key.
  • Once in the BIOS/UEFI settings, navigate to the "Boot" or "Boot Order" section.
  • Ensure that the internal hard drive or SSD is set as the first boot device. If it's not, move it to the top of the list.
  • Save the changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI.

Check for Loose Connections:

  • Make sure that all cables, especially the hard drive or SSD cables, are securely connected. If you're using an external drive, ensure that it's properly connected.

Run Diagnostics:

  • Many HP laptops come with built-in diagnostics tools. You can usually access them by pressing a specific key during the boot process (often F2 or Esc). Run a diagnostic test to check for hardware issues, including the hard drive or SSD.

Reinstall or Repair Windows:

  • If the boot files or Windows installation are corrupted, you might need to reinstall or repair the operating system. You can use a Windows installation USB or DVD for this purpose.
  • Boot from the Windows installation media and select the repair or reinstall option.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
