Hi,

My HP 14-B109wm Pavilion sleekbook 14 stopped Working after few hours of  little water spillage near mouse pad. It gave “Boot device not found “ Hard disk 3F0 error. I tried all basic checks and nothing helped. Later I removed hard disk and saw the hard disk has some damage due to water may be. It also gives some kind of struck sound like scratchy cd. I m mostly sure hard disk gone.

Now how can I recover my windows 8 product key?

Can I buy new hard disk from ebay with pre loaded os (say windows 10 pro)? Anyways I can upgrade to this?

Or do I need to buy empty hard disk and install os? In this case, how can I get my old os key or activate os for free?

Any other suggestions ?

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, To get the answer to this question, basically hard drives are sold without OS. However,  you can download and install Windows Operating System from our website.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I ordered hard disk from eBay with pre-loaded windows 10. Once I connect it, my laptop stats working without any issues.

It solves my issue. Thanks.
