Hi @Rubbergears,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Since your HP PC is showing a “Boot device not found” error and the operating system is missing after a battery replacement, you’ll need to create a bootable USB drive to reinstall Windows. Here's how to do it using HP and Microsoft tools.

Step-by-Step: Create a Bootable USB to Reinstall Windows

🔧 Option 1: Use HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Recommended for HP PCs)

This will reinstall the original OS and drivers that came with your HP device.

  1. On another working Windows PC:
  2. Plug in a USB drive (at least 32 GB).
  3. Run the tool and enter your HP product number (you can find this on the sticker under your laptop or in the BIOS).
  4. Follow the prompts to create the recovery USB.
  5. Insert the USB into your affected HP PC and boot from it:
    • Turn on the PC and press Esc or F9 repeatedly to open the Boot Menu.
    • Select the USB drive and follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows.

After Installation

Once Windows is installed:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
