Hi @Nissasa

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the situation—and I’m truly sorry your HP laptop is showing a “Boot Device Not Found (3F0)” message. I appreciate any steps you’ve already taken.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery path to help your system detect the boot drive and restore access.

Step-by-step recovery for Boot Device Not Found (3F0)

1. Perform a hard reset

  • Power off the laptop completely
  • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, SD cards, etc.)
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds
  • Reconnect only the power adapter and turn the laptop back on

2. Run System Diagnostics

  • On the error screen, press F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
  • Select Component Tests > Storage > Hard Drive Check
  • If the test fails or shows “No drive detected,” note the result
  • If the test passes, proceed to BIOS check

3. Check BIOS for drive detection

  • Restart the laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then press F10 to enter BIOS
  • Go to Storage > Device Configuration
  • Confirm whether the internal drive is listed
  • If not listed, the drive may be disconnected or failed

4. Reseat the SSD (if accessible)

  • If your laptop has a serviceable SSD bay:
    • Power off and unplug the laptop
    • Open the back panel carefully
    • Remove and reinsert the SSD
    • Close the panel and restart
  • If the SSD is soldered or inaccessible, skip this step

5. Attempt recovery using HP Cloud Recovery Tool

  • Use another PC to download the HP Cloud Recovery Tool
  • Create a recovery USB
  • Insert the USB into your laptop and power it on
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows

Let me know what you find during diagnostics or BIOS check. If the drive is detected but the OS is missing or corrupted, I’ll guide you through reinstalling Windows safely. You’re doing the right thing by acting quickly—I’ll be here to support you through each step.
