Hi @Aditya244

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how unsettling it feels to see your computer stuck on a “Boot device not found” screen. Let’s walk through this together step by step so you can bring your system back to life.

Thank you for any effort you’ve already made to check your device—it really helps narrow things down.

Here are the steps you can try:

Power cycle the computer

  • Shut down the computer completely.
  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery if it’s removable.
  • Hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Reconnect power and turn the computer back on.

Check boot order in BIOS/UEFI

  • Restart the computer and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
  • Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Navigate to the Boot Options menu and ensure your hard drive or SSD is listed first in the boot order.
  • Save changes and exit.

Run a hardware diagnostic

  • Restart the computer and press Esc repeatedly, then press F2 to open System Diagnostics.
  • Run the Hard Drive Test to check the health of your storage device.
  • If the test passes, continue with the next steps. If it fails, note the error code.

Use Automatic Repair

  • Power on the computer and interrupt the startup three times (press and hold the power button to force shutdown).
  • On the fourth startup, Windows should enter Automatic Repair mode.
  • Select Advanced options > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Check connections (for desktops)

  • If you’re using a desktop, ensure the hard drive or SSD cables are firmly connected to both the drive and the motherboard.
