I recently installed a custom os called bliss os and removed it. After enabling secure boot I try to boot back to windows but it gives me an error. It says something like bootable image not found. After disabling secure boot I can boot normally. I re-enable secure boot to diagnose the issue. I choose an efi file to manually boot from it. And it works. So why doesn't my laptop automatically boot when having secure boot enabled? I searched a bit more and to solidify that something is clearly wrong I type "bcdedit /enum firmware" in an admin cmd prompt. And it shows that everything is correct and is the same efi file I selected to manually boot. Does anyone know how I can boot automatically with secure boot enabled? Thanks in advance!

Hi @Rachel571

I have recently fixed the problem by installing a core windows update (not a security or driver update). Thank you for attempting to fix my problem!

Hi @Zacgamingpro123,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re experiencing issues with your boot configuration after installing and then removing Bliss OS, especially in relation to Secure Boot. Here are steps to help resolve the automatic boot issue with Secure Boot enabled:

1. Check Boot Order in BIOS/UEFI

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Delete during startup).
  • Ensure that the correct EFI partition (the one for Windows) is set as the first boot device.

2. Repair Boot Configuration

  • Boot into Windows with Secure Boot disabled.
  • Open an elevated Command Prompt (Run as Administrator).
  • Type the following commands one by one:Replace C: with the appropriate drive letter if Windows is installed on a different drive.

3. Rebuild the Boot Configuration Data (BCD)

  • Still in the elevated Command Prompt, type:Again, replace C: with your actual Windows drive letter if it’s different.

4. Reset Secure Boot Keys

  • In the BIOS/UEFI, look for an option to reset Secure Boot keys to factory defaults. This can sometimes resolve issues with custom OS installations.

5. Check Secure Boot Settings

  • Ensure that Secure Boot is enabled and that the keys are set to Microsoft keys (not custom) if you previously set custom keys.

6. Check EFI Partition

  • Make sure your EFI partition is intact and hasn’t been modified or corrupted by the custom OS. You can use disk management tools or utilities like GParted from a live USB to check the EFI partition.

7. Update BIOS/UEFI

  • If your laptop's BIOS/UEFI is outdated, consider updating it to the latest version provided by HP. This can resolve compatibility issues.

8. Reinstall Windows (if necessary)

  • As a last resort, if none of the above solutions work, you may need to reinstall Windows to restore a proper boot configuration and Secure Boot functionality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Rachel571

Thank you for responding!

I'm not sure what a correct boot order is so I will type it below:
UEFI Boot Order

PCIe/M.2 SSD Hard Drive

OS Boot Manager

USB Hard Drive

Notebook Ethernet IPV4

Notebook Ethernet IPV6

SD Card

Generic USB Device

Customized Boot

I have tried with Customized Boot with enabled and disabled.

About numbers 2 & 3, you didn't give me any commands. I think you accidentally didn't paste the commands well.

For number 4 I disable Secure Boot and enabled Reset Secure Boot Keys. Power the device on and off twice and re-enabled Secure Boot but still no bootable image found. And about 5 when I enable Secure Boot it grays out the keys option.

It says that my EFI partition is healthy

And Checking with EasyUEFI it shows

Zacgamingpro123_1-1727258091698.png

So I don't think the EFI is corrupted

My bios is up to date, I updated it a few months before installing win11.

Here's an image of cpu-z with my bios info
