Hey there! @MAURICE07NC,

Are you able to boot into BIOS or F2 from your PC?

Try the steps recommended below.

  1. Turn off the computer.

  2. Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.

  3. Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices.

  4. Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

  5. For most notebook PCs, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to reset.

If this method does not work for your notebook PC, see the User Guide for your specific model for the proper button combination. Go to HP Support, enter your model number in the search bar and click the search icon. On the product support page, click User Guides.

  6. Plug the AC adapter back into the notebook computer.

  7. Press the Power button to turn on the computer.

  8. If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, then press the Enter key.

  9. Reconnect each of the peripheral devices.

  10. Run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers. See Updating Drivers and Software with Windows Update (Windows 10, 8, 7) and Using HP Support Assistant (Windows) for more information.

Also, Restore the BIOS to default settings

Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
Press F10 to Save and Exit.
Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Lastly, try running a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware components on your PC are functioning correctly.

Hello and thank you for responding. I am now attempting to run a diagnostic. My CPU doesnt have a hard drive test. It shows a storage test instead.

@MAURICE07NC,

Thanks for the update.

Did you try running a storage test?

Also, do you see the hard drive listed on the device manager?

If you don't see the hard drive listed on the device manager, It could a hardware issue with the PC.

Please contact HP support for service options.

Hello, I attempted the hard reset with a removable battery with no avail. Under the boot manager screen, it is showing "Boot from EFI file and Notebook hard drive-DF4032". Does this mean it can detect the hard drive, or what?

Hi! @MAURICE07NC,

Yes, it sounds like the hard drive is getting detected on the BIOS page.

Try changing the boot order on the BIOS page.

Make the notebook hard drive as the first boot priority, using the F5 and F6 keys.

Press F10 to save changes and exit from the BIOS page.

Also, try performing recovery using the recovery kit. If you don't have a set of recovery kit, please contact HP support and order a set of recovery kit.
