Hi people.
Every time I start or restart my laptop (Hp Pavilion 15) bootup stops at UEFI "System Information" screen below which says press Esc to continue.
1. The keyboard stopped working or does not work properly
2. USB connected keyboard works properly most of the time
3. I tried repairs with "diskpart" but problem persists
4. After pressing Esc on USB keyboard windows boots to log in screen and I can log in using USB keyboard
5. Startup repair cannot fix the problem
6. Startup options also not working
HELP
Gerry.
I managed to get an update for my my BIOS from HP support (my laptop is a HP Pavilion 15 Notebook) and flashed my BIOS successfully but the problem still persists.
The system info shows the new Bios version.
After pressing Esc from the system info screen I log in using the USB keyboard and Windows 10 works well but without the use of the laptop keyboard.
Sometimes the usb keyboard stops working properly
I'm stymied.

Hi Riddle_Decipher
Many thanks for your help.
I got a BIOS update and managed to flash the BIOS and in system info it shows the new version
Hover my problem still persists
After some more research. I have found out that my EFI partition is no longer active and I thinkit is corrupted
This whole problem started when a flash disc with malware was inserted into my Laptop without my knowledge.
I got rid of the trogen but the damage was done. Now I'm trying to find out how to fix the EFI partition. Any ideas?

Thank you for replying with this detailed response 😉
I appreciate your time and efforts,
The best way to fix the partition is by re-creating it using the recovery media: Click here for the details,
If you don't have a recovery media: Click here to obtain one.
Once you install the recovery media, it would provide an option to create a backup on an external device, make sure you do that before initiating the process as it deletes both the partitions and then creates new partitions and install the OS as shipped with the PC, therefore resolving all the issues you seem to be going through.
Keep me posted,
If the information I've provided was helpful,
give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.

I appreciate your time and efforts,
If you've got the recovery media from HP and that isn't working either,
It's a good call that you've made and Contacting a computer expert at HP should help get the issue resolved by setting up a repair/replacement service as mentioned previously: Click here to view the instructions.

Hi Riddle_Decipher.
I have solved my problem.
It was the keyboard that was faulty. I took my laptop for what I learned was a long overdue service and found that the keyboard had a faulty connection.
Once the cleaning was over and the keyboard was reconnected, that damnable system info screen was gone and the pc booted into the lockscreen and the keyboard was functional again. I still might have to install a new keyboard soon.
Again, many thanks for your assisstance.
