Hello everyone,

 

I have a new HP pavilion 15 (480GB SSD) with Windows 10 and since the beginning the recovery partition is completely full, 5mb space left, so I keep getting the warning message about recovery partition being full.

 

Since the original topic was left unanswered, I would like to bring back the question posted by emeryz. Is the recovery partition full on purpose? Or is this something I should be worried about?

I will appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

Yes its full on purpose and it is static...data will not be added or subtracted from it....just sits there waiting until it is needed. You can make a recovery DVD or thumb drive and then delete it but then you had better not lose the disk you made. 

 

Also you can turn off the disk full message:

It is incredible that I have to put up with such an answer. My 4 month old HP 1TB disc,and D is full. And now I have to make external discs and ... I am not an IT and wasting my time. Back to Thinkpad asap'.

Tacking onto a 6 month old thread? What is your problem? Too much trouble to make a recovery disk? And you think Lenovo handles that differently? Good grief please start your own thread if you have an issue instead of just driving by and dropping a negative thought. Good luck.

Yes I take issue with useless answers and the time wasted. As for the Thinkpad: I bought it with W8, then had to upgrade to W8.1. Then I was an early adopter of W10 and all its subsequent updates, this all over a period of 3 years. And NEVER ANYTHING LIKE A FULL SYSTEM DISC.

3. Your 1TB disk-drive is "partitioned" -- logically split into three segments.

Open "Disk Management", and you'll see the details:

* a tiny (100 to 500 megabyte) partition

* the "HP System Recovery" partition (typically 8 to 20 gigabytes)

* your 'C:' drive-letter, the remaining 900+ gigabytes.

 

Usually, there is no "drive-letter" assigned to those other two partitions, but now there is.

So, Windows notices that the "HP System Recovery Partition" is only as large as it needs to be, namely "almost full", and displays the message that you reported.

 

Use Disk Management to "remove" the association between that "HP System Recovery Partition" and the currently-assigned drive-letter, and Windows will cease displaying the message. QED.

 

Of course, your 'C:' drive-letter is probably nowhere near being full.

So, Windows will not generate that message for that drive-letter.
