Hello,
I have an HP Deskjet 3720 All-in-One Printer. The ink in the HP 304 black cartridge was nearly empty, so I bought a new HP 304 black cartridge. Then I changed the cartridges, but the new cartridge print was a blanco paper, while printing with the old cartridge HP 304 black was no problem, especially when I shaked this old cartridge. Shaking the new cartridge gave helas not any printresult.
I think that I did nothing wrong with the changing of the old with the new cartridge. I do this already 5 years and I never had problems.
When I bought the new cartridge, all looked very well. The package did not look like it was already opened.
My laptop is a Linux (Debian 11) operating system. The HP printer is connected to the laptop with an USB cable.
I hope that you can help me.

To resolve the issue with your HP DeskJet 3720 All-In-One Printer not printing with the new HP 304 black cartridge:
Clean the cartridge and the contacts on the printer: Use a soft cloth to clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the carriage, making sure there is no dirt or debris blocking the connection.
Perform a hard reset: Unplug the printer from the power source for a few minutes, then plug it back in and try to print again.
Check the ink levels: Go to the printer control panel and check the ink levels for the HP 304 black cartridge. If the ink level is low or empty, replace the cartridge with a new one.
Update the printer software: Make sure the latest printer software is installed on your laptop. You can check for updates on the HP website.
Align the cartridges: If the ink cartridges are not aligned properly, the printer may not print. Align the cartridges through the printer software or control panel.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact HP support for further assistance.

Thank you very much for your very clear answer. I could not apply your answer coz I have damaged the new cartridge. In some days I will buy a new cartridge and apply step by step your advice. I appreciate your answer coz of your clear step by step method and i am sure that one of the steps will work for me.
