Hello I do storage auctions and I want a storage locker the other day and I got this nice HP laptop and when I turned it on I discovered a system I've never used before which is Linux and the application is running Linux is called ubuntu 13.10. I would like to use this laptop as I purchased it in my storage auction and I don't care about any of the data that's on this computer already I don't mind if it all gets erased because I'd like to use the computer now that I'm the new owner. But I can't figure out how to do this because I'm not familiar with Linux. And I do not know the password. It will not even let me send her into a wireless network that I have at my house. So basically I have no idea what to do it seems like a decent laptop in there seems to be years of life left in it even though it was a 2008 model. Can anybody help me figure out how to take off the old owners information and start over as new for myself?

In terms of Linux, sorry, no.
HP does not provide Linux support -- so if it's Linux help you want, your best bet for support now is to contact the support forum of the distro you are using.
Since you are using Ubuntu, go here: https://ubuntuforums.org/
Good Luck
