Bypass password

I found the Hewlett-Packard laptop in a dumpster with a broken screen. I brought it home and hooked it up to an external Monitor. I cant get passed the previous owners password. I tried to get it in safemode to no avail as the monitor goes to sleep. Help a lil old lady? Thank ya'll.

Hey thanks. You realize I'm using an external monitor as the screen on hp busted? Can't get it to safe mode sooo. I may just take it apart. What am I to dl the stuff on?

I don't know what other hardware you have to create a DVD/USB, you didn't say, but since you are posting ....

I am in the UK and can buy a Linux Magazine with a cover disk, so DL isn't needed.
