Alright so i've been having this issue for about year now but I haven't really thought about it until now. I have an error that comes up on my laptop whenever I boot up my computer . It's a cmos checksum error and it says press enter to reset and fix it. But it never works because it always keeps coming up even after I press the enter button. I haven't been able to figure anything out, so I don't really know what I should do. I seen videos of people removing the battery all together, but I wouldn't know how to locate that. I have an HP Victus 16-d0023dx (4U097UA). I don

Hi @asundere1 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The CMOS checksum error you're experiencing usually indicates an issue with the CMOS battery or a problem with the BIOS settings. The CMOS battery is responsible for maintaining the system clock and storing BIOS settings when the laptop is powered off.
Here are steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Check and Replace CMOS Battery:
- The CMOS battery is typically a coin-cell battery located on the laptop's motherboard.
- You may need to refer to your laptop's manual or documentation to find the exact location of the CMOS battery.
- Once you locate it, carefully remove the old battery and replace it with a new one. Make sure the new battery is installed correctly.
Load Default BIOS Settings:
- Access the BIOS/UEFI settings during the boot process (usually by pressing a key like Esc, F2, F10, or Del).
- Navigate to the "Exit" or "Advanced" tab and look for an option to load default settings.
- Save the changes and exit the BIOS.
Update BIOS:
- Visit the HP support website for your laptop model and check if there are any BIOS updates available.
- If there is an update, follow the instructions provided by HP to update the BIOS.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the laptop and disconnect all external devices.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the laptop battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and AC adapter, then turn on the laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-

Can you send a specific location or helpful link showing where CMOS battery is located in my HP VICTUS , and also is it okay to use my HP Victus while it is having cmos checksum error? if yes is it advisable to use it without the battery?
