I am helping a friend on a Compac CQ58 and I have hit F11 and Alt F11 till I am blue in face. I have disks for Windows 7 and Windows 10 but cannot install them. Cannot get into set up? Hit esc and it goes to Automatic restore and does nothing any help?

Actually it was Alt plus F11 can you believe. But I am there and have been there for 8 hours! I cannot boot from the CD Drive. The program installed is Windows 8 and believe or not I gave to a friend. I have Windows 7 and Window 10. Tried to boot windows 10 from USB Drive but it always ends up with a problem. I scandisk and no bad sectors. I just need to delete everything and start fresh. Any suggestion at this point is a blessing.

Hi:
Unfortunately, I don't know what you can do if you can't boot from the USB port or DVD drive.
I know that F9 is supposed to load the boot options menu.
Sometimes you have to press the ESC key first to get the main menu of options and then select the F9 boot options menu.
