Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand you are unable to create the recovery image,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Did you check if the disc inserted is supported by the recovery manager?
While you respond to that, here's what you need to know:
Some versions of Recovery CD Creator software will not work with certain discs (such as mini-discs, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, or Dual Layer DVD discs). Media incompatibility information can be read from the initial windows of the Recovery CD Creator software.

As was stated above, you need to use DVD media. (DVD+R, DVD-R or DVD DL)
DVD's hold more data than CD-R's. If the recovery manger allowed creation of CD-R's, then you would likely need 20+ discs in order to create a set, where 4.7 GB DVD-R's would cut the amount down to 5 or 6.
For what it's worth to buy a pack of blank DVD's, you're better off just to buy a 32GB flash drive. Creation and recovery with a USB flash drive will be much faster and less of a hassle. Once the recovery data has been transfered over, don't use the flash drive for anything else. Attach a label to it identifying it as your recovery drive and store it in a safe place.
