Hello
I am happy to be back. While I was doing my daily tasks on the computer, I noticed a file in the path (D:\CTOError.flg). I did not know this file, it never appeared before, but | thought HP just put it there as part of my factory reset. When I looked online to check about this file, I started seeing posts on errors people got after doing a factory reset because of the file, and their PC could not boot properly. So now I am got so shocked with this, that I am not turning off my computer until I get an answer.
I need an answer as quick as flash. Is this file something normal to appear on a computer, or is it something telling you your computer will not start properly, or is it a file that will give an error during a HP System Recovery. In any case, please give me on detail how to fix it, because I am not turning off my computer until I receive an answer.
Please, Please, PLEASE!!! Can someone in the world give me an answer. If I cannot get one answer, my computer could shutdown or something. PLEASE, give me an answer, this file is scaring the life out of this computer
If you need my computer info, I will give it below:
Device Name: Johns-PC
Product Number: VL073EA#ABU
Device OS: Windows 10 Home 64 bit
Manufacture: Hellwet-Packard
BIOS type: Legacy
Brought Date: 21/08/2009 (BIOS Sold Date)
Microprocessor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz
Please do not do any hacking, for I am not doing any harm. Anyway, please give me an answer to my question and I will be ready to give back what happened, or what I think of the answer.
Thanks

@Johns011 Welcome to HP Community!
I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are getting an error while performing a recovery. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Did you make any changes on the PC before the issue started?
Have you tried to run any test on the computer?
Have you tried to do a bios default?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the notebook:
Next thing, I would suggest here is to a Bios defaults
To do this, please keep tapping the Esc key gently several times as soon as you power on the computer.
It takes you to the startup menu.
Then press the F10 key to go the bios.
Then press the F9 key to load bios defaults. Then press F10 to save changes and exit.
Then return to Windows
Please run the System diagnostics test as well as an extensive test on the hard drive and Memory from F2(Please capture the failure ID for further assistance).
Depending on the test results, If the test passes, I would suggest you perform a system recovery using the partition available on your PC. Doing this will wipe off everything and set the computer back to the original factory conditions. So, please remember to back up your data before initiating system recovery. If for some reason the recovery fails. The only other way to install Windows would be to order the recovery media for your laptop and using the recovery media you can install Windows. You can check if the recovery media is available online on www.hp.com/drivers by entering the exact model no. of your laptop. To find the exact model no. click here: http://hp.care/2bygf7l

Did you make any changes on the PC before the issue started?
I did create a VHD on my system, but that should'nt cause problems on my Recovery Drive
Have you tried to run any test on the computer?
I use Windows Defender, so either I do a scan, or Windows Defender does a scan every week
Have you tried to do a bios default?
I have not done a BIOS Default. Actually, I never touch the BIOS so my computer does not get bricked
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, now I want to update you with a few things, so you might be able to see the problem correctly:
- All my accounts on the computer became broken, but at least I did not sign out of my account so my account is fine
- The other accounts Search Bar, System Settings, and Start Menu are broken, except for my accounts search bar...
- I haven't done a System Recovery, so I do not know if I would get an error (Anyway, I think I know how to fix that)
- I have created a Windows RE disc, so I can reset Windows 10 in any issue
- My Touchpad (From Synaptics) is braking physically
I have accepted your reply as a solution for now, until you give me a more accurate answer.
Thanks for contacting me
Hope you have a lovely day
