Hey. My laptop has two cameras. The one near the keyboard and the one on the monitor.  So the one on the monitor (which I'm supposed to use for meetings and everything) is not workingg despite trying everything. Please assist.

Hi @SZN1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that your laptop has two cameras, but the camera on the monitor (display bezel) is not working while the keyboard camera still functions. This is usually caused by the camera privacy shutter being enabled, the wrong camera being selected in an application, or a camera driver issue.

Please try the following:

1. Check the camera privacy controls:

  • Make sure the physical camera privacy shutter next to the monitor camera is open.

  • Press the camera privacy key on the keyboard (often F8 or F10).

  • If your laptop has a camera kill switch on the side, ensure it is turned on.

2. Select the correct camera:

In your meeting app (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, etc.), open Video Settings and select the Integrated Camera or HP Wide Vision Camera instead of the keyboard/secondary camera.

3. Verify Windows camera settings:

Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera and make sure camera access is enabled for Windows and your desktop apps. Then test the camera using the Windows Camera app.

4. Reinstall the camera driver:

  1. Open Device Manager.

  2. Expand Cameras or Imaging devices.

  3. Right-click the monitor camera and select Uninstall device.

  4. Restart the PC to allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically.

If the issue persists, install the latest camera drivers and BIOS updates from the Official HP® Support for your specific laptop model.

I hope this helps. Let us know the exact HP laptop model and what happens when you open the Windows Camera app if you need further assistance.

Take care and have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
