It was supplied with Windows 10 but I had updated it to Windows 11, and it worked for a year or so before it stopped turning on and had to be returned to HP for a warranty repair.

HP's 'solution' was to reinstall Windows 11.

Does this mean that I must stay on Windows 10 forever?

If you had updated your notebook to W11 previously, you can easily upgrade it back to W11 by clicking on the Blue W11 installation assistant button at the link below (1st option) to begin the in-place upgrade from W10 back to W11.

Download Windows 11

So HP Elite Dragonfly G2 is not compatible with Windows 11 despite having an i7-1165G7 CPU and I must not install Windows 11?

HP Recommended

It is compatible, and instead of clean installing W11 from scratch, all you need to do is to do what I posted the other day.

If you would rather clean install W11 that's fine too.

That is incorrect.

I installed Windows 11 via Windows Update --- you know what a bleep it is pestering all the time.

The laptop stopped working.

HP re-installed Windows 10.

The conclusion, therefore, is that this latop is not compatible with Windows 11.

Looks like nobody knows.

So I suppose I'll have to stay on Windows 10 so as not to risk another total failure of the laptop.

Obsolete after three year is the kind of **bleep** that Apple does. 😞
