I ran a system diagnostic and the result was: 

smart check passed

Long dst failed 

 

Failure ID: U307WX -8PSA2P- XD7UQ1- 61DB03


 I know that I have to replace the hard drive. But I want to know if I’m able to recover my personal data and how.

In many cases, yes but NOT 100%. The simplest way is to use USB enclosure such as

 

             https://www.msy.com.au/simplecom-se203-black-25-hddssd-to-usb30-tool-free-external-enclosure

 

and use it as an external drive, and hope you can see its folders to recover your files/data. Worse case, you have to use professional services.
