OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-b1000 (4Z7T3AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I have a HP OMEN 16-B1371TX LAPTOP. It currently has 2x8=16Gigs of memory.

1. Can I replace one stick with 16gb? Hence there would be 24Gigs of memory? I am planning to7 buy a Crucial 16gb kit. Is this okay? Would there be any matching issue as both sticks are of different company and make?

2. In my manual and cmd, it says maximum amount of memory I can have is 32gb. But in Crucial's page, it says I can have maximum amount 64gigs of memory. Is this correct?

3. Where can I download a manual for my laptop, HP OMEN 16-B1371TX LAPTOP

Thanks

Hi @CreativeArts

1) Yes.

2) It is recommended the 32 GB, but Crucial being a reliable supplier if it indicates 64 GB can be supported.

3) the service manual is not up to date but I put the link for you

Thank you.

So, even if the sticks are of different model and make, there is no issue right. My default RAM comes with 4800Mhz. If I use, Crucial's 5600Mhz stick, will there be any issue? Then what will be the speed with which both RAM works? lower? like 4800Mhz?

One more question. If I upgrade RAM to 24 or 32 gigs, will it improve gaming performance? Or is it a overkill.

You said, Crucial's 64gb support could be right. But, when I run this command in cmd,

wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx

I get an answer that max RAM could be upto 32.

Thanks

If you put a 5600 , this can make but it decreases the frequency to 4800.

Yes of course but the ideal is to put pairs of memory or 32 GB, because it activates the double channel and this makes the memory doubles its data transfer rate from 64 bit to 128 bit which is ideal in games,

This command is a joke to me. I have a laptop that HP specifies 64 GB in its service manual and the command indicates 32 GB, there are laptops that have a single slot and the command does not identify that and indicates that it has two slots and then the user gets a surprise, that command is to have some more information but do not trust it fully.

That command would work fine if the computer manufacturers all wrote the specifications in the SMBIOS of the computer but most of them don't so the information given by that command may be out of reality,

Then it is best to look for a balance, usually, check here, and the processor manufacturer.
