HP 17 Laptop PC 17-c2000 (4V792AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Setup USB comes to the 'Connect to the Internet' but my 17:" HP laptop has no Ethernet port and startup USB probably has no WiFi driver.

I tried Shift+F10 and started taskmgr and stop Network Flow service as some article on the Internet suggested, but that did not work with this setup version.

How can I install windows 11 as I even cannot get .inf driver from HP official site

Hi @MiliMilutinovic,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to install Windows 11 on your HP 17 Laptop PC 17-c2000 (4V792AV) without an Ethernet port and where WiFi drivers are unavailable during setup, you can try the following options:

Option 1: Use a USB WiFi Adapter

  • Get a USB WiFi Adapter: Purchase or use a USB WiFi dongle that includes built-in drivers for Windows or works with the setup environment. Most USB adapters come with pre-loaded drivers that will allow you to connect to the internet during the installation process.

Option 2: Install Network Drivers During Setup

Download Network (WiFi) Drivers on Another PC:

  • Visit the HP website on another computer and download the appropriate Windows 11 drivers for your laptop model.
    • HP Support Website → Enter your laptop model (HP 17-c2000) and download the WiFi network drivers for Windows 11.

Transfer Drivers to USB:

  • Save the downloaded WiFi drivers onto a USB flash drive.

Load Drivers During Setup:

  • During Windows installation, when prompted to connect to the internet, insert the USB flash drive.
  • Press Shift + F10 to open the command prompt, then type download and point to the directory where the drivers are located on your USB. Alternatively:
    • Click on the "Load driver" option in the Windows setup screen to manually browse and load the .inf files from the USB drive.

Install the WiFi Driver:

  • Once the drivers are loaded, your WiFi adapter should be recognized, allowing you to connect to the internet and proceed with the installation.

Option 3: Create a Custom Windows 11 Installation Media with Drivers

Download and Install Windows 11 ISO:

  • Use Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool on another PC to download a fresh copy of the Windows 11 ISO.

Option 4: Use a USB-C to Ethernet Adapter

  • If your laptop has a USB-C port, you can connect a USB-C to an Ethernet adapter to temporarily connect to the internet via a wired connection. This will allow you to complete the installation and download the WiFi drivers later.
