Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Notebook 15, Model Number 15-dy1073nr.

The laptop malfunctioned after I tried to update to Windows 11 and the normal recovery options wouldn't work. So, I used a Recovery command prompt to back up my files. I ran a memory test and chkdsk. Everything seems to be working.

I deleted the partitions on the disk and was going to do a clean install of Windows 10. The installer prompted for a driver. I downloaded sp104226. The installer saw the driver as the correct driver. It attempted to load the driver. The scroll bar cycled through many times (like 10 times or so). After a while, the installer reported a generic error.

I tried the generic driver from Intel. The installer recognized it as the correct driver, but when it tried to load the driver, the error indicated that I needed to get the driver from the OEM.

Has anyone run into this? Any suggestions or links to a driver that would work?

Thanks!

Hi:

There may be a different issue because your notebook should not need a storage controller driver for W10 to see the drive.

Your notebook is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool which you can use to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

You will need to have access to another PC running W7 64 bit or newer since your PC is not working.

Here is a link for how to use that utility... You will also need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media.

Thanks! I'll give it a shot. I'm creating a bootable USB drive right now. I'll let you know how it goes.

You're very welcome.

So far, so good. The HP Recovery image I downloaded installed Windows 10 successfully.

I'm trying to upgrade immediately to Windows 11 before I do anything else and see if I have any problems.
