HP Touch 15

I am on my HP Touch laptop that I received 2 years ago. It stopped working about 6 months in but I never bothered trying as I used my work laptop.

my pc info

Model: HP 15 Notebook PC

Model #: 15-f211wm

I can’t get to the log in screen. It starts up pretty slow and gets to the screen with the time/date and background but once I click a key to log in it just shows me the background screen only.

I have tried a reset where I unplugged everything/removed the battery. Nothing.

I tried the whole f11 thing on startup to reset and that ended in the following error message: “There was a problem resetting your pc. No changes were made.”

I did the esc key on start up and ran a diagnostic test and got the following feedback:

battery check: not installed (although it is installed)

fail code: M4JCGC-7STA04-MFPWMF-60WJ03

Hello @Cydtwill ,

I‘m sorry but the error code is clear: the hard drive of your notebook is failing and needs to be replaced. After that you have to reinstall Windows.

To replace the hard drive follow the procedure described in the Maintenance and Service Guide pages 44-47.

You could replace the hard drive with a 2.5“ SATA SSD.
