HI @Gaynell1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your internet connection has disappeared and you can't connect to any network, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Restart Your Devices
- Restart your computer/laptop: This can often resolve temporary issues.
- Restart your modem and router: Unplug them for about 30 seconds, then plug them back in.
2. Check Wi-Fi Switch
- If you're using a laptop, ensure that the physical Wi-Fi switch (if available) is turned on. Some laptops have a key combination (like Fn + F2) to toggle Wi-Fi.
3. Network Settings
- Windows:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
- Click on Network reset at the bottom and follow the prompts.
- Mac:
- Go to System Preferences > Network.
- Select Wi-Fi, then click the minus (-) button to remove it, and then click the plus (+) button to add it back.
4. Update Network Drivers
- Windows:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters, right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter, and select Update driver.
- Mac:
- Go to the Apple menu > About This Mac > Software Update to check for updates.
5. Forget and Reconnect to Wi-Fi
- If your network appears but isn’t connecting, forget the network:
- Windows: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks. Select your network and choose Forget.
- Mac: Go to System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced, select the network, and click the minus (-) button to remove it.
6. Check for Interference
- Ensure there are no physical barriers (like walls) or electronic devices (like microwaves) that could be interfering with the Wi-Fi signal.
7. Run Network Troubleshooter (Windows)
- Right-click on the network icon in the system tray and select Troubleshoot problems. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix issues.
8. Check Router Settings
- Access your router settings through a web browser by entering the router’s IP address (usually something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1).
- Ensure that the Wi-Fi is enabled and not hidden.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
