Hi @Mkinstad,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 15.6-inch laptop can't connect to WiFi and isn't finding any networks, here are several troubleshooting steps you can try.
Restart Your Laptop and Router
- Sometimes, simply restarting both your laptop and the router can resolve connectivity issues.
- Power cycle the router by unplugging it for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in.
Check the WiFi Switch/Key
- Some HP laptops have a physical WiFi switch or use a keyboard shortcut (usually Fn + F12) to toggle WiFi on/off. Make sure it is turned on.
Enable WiFi Adapter
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Look for Network adapters, and find your WiFi adapter (it may be listed as something like Intel Wireless or Realtek).
- Right-click on the adapter and choose Enable if it's disabled.
Update or Reinstall Network Drivers
- In Device Manager, right-click on your WiFi adapter and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling the driver and then restarting the laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
Network Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Internet Connections and run the troubleshooter to find and fix any network problems.
Check WiFi Settings
- Make sure your laptop is not set to Airplane Mode (you can check this from the action center or the Network & Internet settings).
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi to ensure your WiFi is turned on.
Check Router Settings
- Ensure that your router is not blocking the laptop’s MAC address. You can check the router's configuration through its web interface.
- Confirm that other devices are able to connect to the WiFi network to rule out router issues.
Reset Network Settings
- If the above steps don’t work, you can reset your network settings by going to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network Reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
