Hi - trying to create system recovery media as another HP laptop is having problems doing a recovery and I felt the need to have it on a USB pen!
Unfortunately there's no "HP Recovery Manager" program showing (even though there's an update for HP Recovery Manager showing on the HP Support page for my laptop).
I tried downloading and installing the HP RM update - it does nothing.
I extracted the update and found the following files - RMApp.exe, rebecca.exe and Install.cmd - each one runs but does nothing. (the Install.cmd does create a log file - it says "RM is installed" and exits with a Successful result)
The HP Support Assistant was showing "Create your system recovery" in the Messages section, but I tried running that - nothing. Then checked for updates & messages, now the "Create your system recovery) has moved to the Action Log section and is greyed out.
So - is it possible to create the system recovery media from Windows or is paying £33+ to Best2Serve the only option now?

Hi:
I don't know when you bought your PC, but it is my understanding that starting in 2018, there was no longer an option to create recovery media on HP PC's.
If there is no recovery manager program, you won't be able to create recovery media.
Here are two free options for you.
1, Use macrium reflect to create a system image. Store the image on a portable flash drive. The software will give you a prompt to create a rescue DVD or USB flash drive to access the system image on your portable hard drive.
You can update the image anytime you want.

2. You can make W10 installation media as follows...
You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer with the Microsoft Media Creation Tool, using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...
Select Download tool now, and select Run.
If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.
Select which media you want to use:
USB flash drive. Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
Then you can reinstall the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.
