Yes, sounds like you are trying to install Windows the correct way.

But Windows doesn't know what the problem is.

It's like the magic 8-Ball.

It has a small supply of canned responses.

The drive has failed (which is why you got the 302 code).

Windows doesn't know the drive has failed and can't find the drive, so it provides the most likely response...'you need to install the storage controller drivers because we can't find any drives.'

There is no response for 'your hard drive has failed, and you need to install a new one before you try to install Windows.'

I’m also stuck on the part where I try to select drivers on the windows 10 installation page and it says no drivers found.

Hi:

There is probably something else wrong because W10 doesn't need any storage controller drivers to install on an AMD notebook.

Run the F2 hard drive diagnostics test and make sure the hard drive hasn't failed.

If the hard drive passes the test, use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with the PC.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

Since you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter the notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.

The PC's product number is:  5KF69UA#ABA

the hard drive has failed the test so I need a new one and I think it does need drivers.I also don’t have another pc to do this job and I had to make the windows 10 drive from my friends PC.i have an older MacBook so can I use that to make the recovery software?

After I get the hard drive and install it what should I do next?

I recommend that you replace the 1 TB mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).

This model is reasonably priced and has very good performance.

You don't need any drivers to install W10.

I have a similar model HP notebook with the lower performing AMD A4-9125 processor and have clean installed W10 on it a couple of times.

I also have a HP notebook with a Ryzen 5 4500U processor and even that one doesn't need any storage controller drivers.

I've clean installed W10 & W11 on that notebook with no problem.

You have to use the HP cloud recovery tool on a PC that has W7 or newer on it.

You can also use the W10 installation media you created to clean install W10 on the new SSD.

I'm pretty sure it will work after you replace the drive.

After I get the hard drive can you tell me if I’m stalling windows correctly?Im using a bootable drive then pressing f9 after plugging the bootable installation drive and  when in boot mode I press the flash drive with windows 10.then I agree to terms and it says I have no drivers and no where to install windows 10 on. Before I press f9 it says hard disk error 302.is the reason why it wants to install drivers is because the hard drive is dead?

Ok thanks I have ordered a hard drive and I will update you if it works and when it does.do I use the hp recovery software app and create installation media for my exact laptop and then boot up into disk selection with the new hard drive.after using the installation media and when I’m installing windows will it not ask for the drivers?it also asks for me to select the hard drive (which is dead so that’s the most likely why).

You're very welcome.

If you are happy with the way things went when you clean installed W10, you don't need to run the cloud recovery tool media unless you wanted the original HP factory image and software.

But I encourage you to buy a 32 GB USB flash drive and make the bootable recovery media for another time.

On the W10 clean install, after the installation is completed, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.
