I've just purchased an HP Omen 14 and it came with Freedos. I want to install Windows 11 but I don't have any other windows computer. I've made a USB drive with Windows 11 but when I try to install it, it keeps asking for a missing driver. The HP Page only have drivers in .exe format (and as I said, I don't have any other windows computer). Is it possible to have the required drivers in any other format?

If your notebook has an Intel processor, see if this works:

I have zipped up and attached the Intel storage controller drivers that should work for Windows to find the drive.

The attached file is good for both W10 & W11.

Copy all of the files in both folders in the attached file to a USB flash drive.

Have the flash drive and your Windows installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the Windows installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

Click Next, and Windows should install.

Hi Paul! Thanks a lot for your help!

My notebook do has an Intel Processor, some other specs if it helps:

Processor: Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 185H (up to 5.1 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, 24 MB L3 cache, 16 cores, 22 threads)
Hard drive: 1 TB PCIe® Gen4 NVMe™ Performance M.2 SSD
Graphics (integrated): Intel® Arc™ Graphics
Graphics (discrete): NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4060 Laptop GPU (8 GB GDDR6 dedicated)
Memory: 32 GB LPDDR5x-7467 MT/s (onboard) Transfer rates up to 7467 MT/s. onboard

Unfortunally, the Intel storage controller driver you send me doesn't seem to work. It doesn't show up in the "Install driver to show hardware" window, and when I uncheck the "hide not compatible controllers" checkbox, none of the drivers in the list can be installed. The error message keeps being "there's a missing controller here" (I'm doing the installation in spanish, sorry for not providing the exact error message in english).

Again. Thanks a lot for your help!

You're very welcome.

Sorry, that didn't work for you.

Unfortunately, I cannot find the correct Intel storage controller driver for the Intel® Core™ Ultra processor family.

This may be an issue you will want to ask about on the Intel support forum.

I found this somewhat related discussion and they provide some suggestions that may be helpful to you.

Thanks a lot again, Paul. I've written a post in the Intel support forum. Will get back with their response.

Best!

You're very welcome.

Hopefully someone there will know what to do and I look forward to learning the solution, because we can help others here instead of having to direct them elsewhere.
