"HP System Recovery"
Good day. My first post here.
Having a very hard time finding what I need. I'm looking for (to buy!) a
Windows 7 64B Recovery Kit (I don't know the kit number) For HP Pavilion Notebook PC Model Number g7-1250sg,
serial number [Personal Information Removed], Product code A3A88EA.
To be clear, I'm not looking to "restore" Windows 7 per se. I want to "reset" the laptop to the original factory settings. My
issue is not with Windows 7. The laptop does operate. However the network card (Ralink RT5390), the LAN connection
and the Radeon graphics (I'm stuck with standard VGA) are not recognized. When the laptop was running W-10, I had full
networking and graphics capabilities.
How did this happen? I purchased this laptop second hand. It had been upgraded from W-7 PRO to W-10 and the
performance was absolutely terrible. I took my Windows 7 Pro OEM disk and re-loaded the laptop to W-7 and BINGO,
performance (speed) improved dramatically. The laptop works, but it is barely usable. I have only standard VGA, anything
networking is not recognized along with a couple of other items not being recognized. I want to "reset" the laptop to the
original factory condition.
Also: after re-loading W-7 Pro with the OEM disk, only one disk partition was present. In the "diskmgt" service I
saw two partitions but only one was labeled (as C:) I assigned a drive letter (E:) to the other partition (which appears to
be the original recovery partition) and the assignment was successful. I can look in that partition and see files are
present. I was not able / allowed to assign the partition as "D:" which is the recovery partition on my desktop PC running
W-7 Pro.
I have run all the diagnostic tests that are available, HP support is not available as they have discontinued support
for this laptop. Also, I've seen something about pressing the F11 key on boot up. No go.
I am a W-7 fan. My needs are simple. I would like to get this beast properly running. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.
Best regards from Wiesbaden, Germany.

Hi:
Since you can install W7, it seems to me that all you need are the proper drivers to install.
Since HP has retired support for your notebook's model series, you can find the drivers you need from this reputable 3rd party website:
Treiber für HP Pavilion g7-1250sg (driverscollection.com)
For the AMD/Intel switchable graphics, the only driver you need to install is the AMD graphics driver which installs both the Intel and AMD GPU's.

Howdy. Thanks for the reply. You've given good info and I'll check it out. One problem is that when I look in device manager the network card nor the graphics display driver show up. They do reside on the machine because they were working (poorly) with W-10. Now, with my W-7 reload those devices do not show up in device manager. I assume that device needs to be there in order for the driver to have any effect. What I'm saying is that attempting to load a driver is not going to make the device show up in device manager. Full disclosure: I could be wrong. Thanks again. I hope there are more ideas out there where I can obtain a "system" RESET disk.

You're very welcome.
When devices need drivers Windows calls them by a different name.
For example:
The Wi-Fi adapter is called a Network Controller (Netzwerk-Controller in German) and appears under an 'Other Devices' category in the device manager.
The graphics adapter will be labeled as a Standard VGA Adapter under the Display Adapters device manager category or may also be listed in the other devices category as a Video Controller.
If you do not see any devices so described, then there is a hardware issue of some kind.

Howdy. You have directed me on to the right road. I was looking at this bass-akwards. I downloaded some of the drivers and I am seeing some initial success. I first loaded the wireless adapter driver and BINGO, sort of; the wireless is functioning but for some strange reason it does not recognize my wireless router even though the laptop is only a couple of feet away. So that should be fun to work out. I'm dealing with getting the AMD graphics in order; not a simple process but we're moving in the right direction. If I have any further issues I'll be back on this thread. Again, thank you Sir... =Timothy= CW2 Ret. USAR.

Hi:
Glad you are making progress.
Your Wi-Fi card is only a single band card that works on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band only.
Now that the driver is installed, what model Wi-Fi adapter does your notebook have?
There may be an updated W7 driver I can give you to make it work better.

My HP g7 1250sg, product A3A88EA , Win-7 64b is trying to come back to life. The wireless and LAN are functioning well. The problem with the updating the graphics capability persists.
I have downloaded " sp61168 " for the AMD graphics and also the AMD cleanup utility. Here is the current configuration:
In device manager, Display adapters, there are two entries for "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter", one having the yellow error marker. Clicking on on that adapter / General , Device status indicates: "this device cannot start. (Code10)"
In device manager, Other devices, two entries: "PCI Device" and "PCI Simple Communications Controller" both have the yellow error marker.
In device manager, there is no entry for anything "Intel" or "AMD Radeon." Also, there are no folders, system or otherwise that show Intel or AMD Radeon.
I launched the SP61168 and allowed it to do its thing. The AMD-Catalyst Install Manager - version 08.00.0891 screen appeared. I clicked Install / Express / Next. After a short bit came an error message: AMD Catalyst Install Manager: Detection Manager: failed to load the driver. I aborted the process, did some research, found the AMD Cleanup Utility, launched that (it prompted for SafeMode - optional, I guess). The Cleanup utility did its thing and returned a report. At the bottom of the report it indicated "Uninstalled Application packages" and "Uninstalled Driver packages." Also listed were "Failed Applications packages" and "Failed Driver packages."
I attempted to run the SP61168 again and received the same "Detection Manager: failed to load the driver" error message. I think it's likely I'm overlooking some simple thing here but I'm at my wits end trying to understand what that simple thing might be.
Some insight or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi:
It appears that since your notebook's device manager indicates two Standard VGA adapters, that sp61168 is failing to install either one of them and it should be installing both.
I had given you the correct graphics driver to install from the 3rd party website the other day...sp55025.
I explored the driver folder, and it does contain driver support for both GPU's.
The PCI device needs this driver:
The PCI Simple Communications Controller needs this driver:
