Microsoft Windows 11

I downloaded and used Media Creation Tool and created a Windows 11 USB. But when I boot it, the PC says that I need to install drivers to see my disks. I looked for it and tried to find IRST driver compatible with my PC but none of them worked. So I tried to install Windows 10, but then it didn't even ask me to choose a disk on the installation screen. Is there anyone who knows which driver I should use for this particular issue for installing Windows 11? Thanks in advance.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if the driver file that I zipped up and attached below works.

Unzip and copy all of the files in the folder in the attachment to a USB flash drive.

Have the flash drive and your Windows installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the Windows installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

If Windows still can't find the drive, uncheck the box to include the compatible driver and try any of the ones listed.

Click Next, and Windows should install.

I was seeing your replies everywhere on the forum while searching for a solution. I am currently burning the ISO to the USB and I'll try your advice, hope it works.

Thank you so much.

You're very welcome.

I hope so too because I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

The driver I attached is good for all PC's with the Intel 11th > 13th gen core processors.

It worked, thank you so much, but there's a thing I don't understand, it didn't wipe my C: drive, old contents are mostly there. Did I skip a step or is it a known issue?

HP Recommended

Forgot wiping C:, keep that in mind.

You're very welcome.

If you want to clean the drive, go back to installing Windows and when you get to the screen that asks, where do you want to install windows, run the diskpart utility to clean the disk.

  1. Press Shift+F10 from inside Windows Setup screen to open a command prompt window.
  2. Type diskpart and press the Enter key.
  3. Type list disk to find your disk number.
  4. Type select disk (e.g., select disk0) to choose the disk you want to format.
  5. Finally, type clean to wipe the disk completely.
  6. Exit Diskpart and continue to install Windows.

Does it have any difference than doing the delete operation through the interface where it asks where to install Windows? Or should I use cmd for a cleaner installation?

HP Recommended

You can do that too if you want.

Delete every partition on the hard drive leaving just one partition of unallocated space.

Click Next and W11 will install.
