FreeDOS

Hello, I have bought  HP 14s-dq5007nm notebook with FreeDOS on. I want to install Windows 10 from USB. In BIOS USB boot is enabled and in Boot order USB is in first place but in Boot Menu USB is not recognised. I also can't access files on USB from DOS (it has HP documents on 😧 and for other letters no drive found). I tried with Windows 10 x64 and Windows 10 x86.

Thank you!

Hello,

You may try with a different USB pendrive (different type or brand). Best would be USB type 3 but USB type 2 will also work.

Make sure your Windows 10 pendrive is legitimate and working fine - it must be x64 edition created for UEFI GPT.

x86 Windows may not work.

I would recommend you use another modern Windows computer and download and use the Microsoft Media Creation tool

The Media creation tool will download original Windows 10 ISO, latest version 22H2, will format your USB pendrive, will prepare it the proper way.

Alternatively, download the ISO for Windows from the above website, save the ISO.

Download Rufus >> https://rufus.ie/en/

and use it to create a bootable USB drive / NTFS , GPT, UEFI /

When ready, keep the pendrive plugged into the device, reboot and goto Esc / F9 boot menu.
