I am trying to setup my new HP laptop and it always just shows an error message

  • If you’re using a Microsoft account or a local account to sign in.
  • Whether the laptop is connected to the internet (Wi‑Fi or Ethernet) during setup.

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Restart the laptop and attempt the login again, as sometimes setup errors clear after a reboot.
  • Check your internet connection: Ensure the laptop is connected to a stable Wi‑Fi or wired network, since Windows setup often requires online verification.
  • Verify your credentials: If using a Microsoft account, confirm that the email and password are correct by signing in on another device.
