Hey all,

Right now I'm working with an HP 15-bs234wm laptop whose SSD is more than likely about to fail, and HP Cloud Recovery Tool doesn't recognize my serial number, giving me the message "Product ID does not match or is invalid. Please contact HP Support." This laptop is out of warranty (and has been for a few years now) so I'm not sure what my options are when it comes to "contacting HP support" (but that is why I'm here!) but I'd really like to get this laptop going the way it was rather than relying on Microsoft's Media Creation Tool for a generic Windows install.

I've also tried making a recovery drive, but it hangs somewhere during the "Copying system" part.

So, on that note, is there anything else I might be able to do? Thanks in advance!

Hi:

We found out that HP withdraws support for the HP cloud recovery tool once the PC reaches 5 years of age.

So, if you want the original HP factory recovery image, the only place I know of where you can buy one would be from this vendor at the link below:

Hi again,

I just recently found that out (regarding Cloud Recovery Tool) myself. I'll definitely keep Computer Surgeons in mind for future reference. Thank you so much! 😊
