HP Envy Laptop 

Was Windows Home 10, upgraded to Windows 11 Home about 4weeks ago.  All was fine, used it about three times.  Yesterday, it won’t let me sign in.  I have my Microsoft password, but when I hit submit, it tells me I’m offline, which I am not.  Can’t get any help from Microsoft, and HP help will charge me for help.

Any suggestions appreciated.  Thank you.

If you are having trouble signing in to your Microsoft account on your HP Envy Laptop after upgrading to Windows 11 Home, here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

1. Verify Internet Connection

Before proceeding with troubleshooting, ensure that your laptop is indeed connected to the internet:

  • Check your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection and make sure it is active.
  • Try accessing a website using your web browser to confirm the internet connection is working.

2. Restart Your Laptop

A simple restart can often resolve connectivity issues:

  1. Press and hold the power button to turn off your laptop.
  2. Wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  3. Try logging in again.

3. Use Safe Mode with Networking

Safe Mode with Networking can help identify if background programs are causing the issue:

  1. Turn off your laptop.
  2. Turn it on and press the F8 key during boot to access Advanced Boot Options.
  3. Choose "Safe Mode with Networking" and press Enter.
  4. Once in Safe Mode, try logging in to your Microsoft account.

4. Sync Your System Clock

Ensure that your system clock is accurate, as discrepancies can cause sign-in issues:

  1. Right-click on the date and time in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
  2. Select "Adjust date/time."
  3. Enable "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically."
  4. Restart your laptop and try to sign in again.

I tried your suggestions, but it still will not let me sign in, keeps saying I am offline, which I’m not.

I’m going to purchase the SmartFriend to see if they can fix it.
