I can only power up, the screen says time and date. Then I push enter and a white circle with a black person type of an emoji and below that the words sign in. When I click on sign in, and it goes back to the original screen with time and date as I originally stated.

Hi @Coachrandy31Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Looks like your PC is stuck in a frustrating little loop, like a door that just won’t open! 🔄 Let’s figure out how to get you back in and past the lock screen.

Try these troubleshooting steps:

Perform Power Drain

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Unplug the power adapter from the laptop.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30–60 seconds to drain excess power.
  4. Plug the charger back in but do not turn it on immediately. Wait for 10–15 minutes.
  5. Turn on the laptop and check if the problem is fixed.

Try different Sign-in-Options

  1. On the sign-in screen, select Sign-in Options.
  2. choose any mode of sign in if you've set up any different mode of sign in options

Restart in Safe Mode

  1. Turn off your PC.
  2. Turn it back on and as soon as the HP logo appears, press F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly until you see the Advanced Startup Options screen.
  3. Select TroubleshootAdvanced optionsStartup Settings.
  4. Click Restart and choose Safe Mode with Networking.
  5. Once in Safe Mode, try signing in again.

Disconnect External Devices

Unplug USB drives, external keyboards, mice, or printers and restart your PC. Sometimes, external devices cause login issues.

Perform a System Restore

  1. Force shut down your PC (hold the power button for 10 seconds).
  2. Turn it back on and as soon as you see the HP logo, press F11 repeatedly.
  3. Select TroubleshootAdvanced optionsSystem Restore.
  4. Choose a restore point before the issue started.
