HP Recommended

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me access my recovery files. A couple of weeks ago, my computer would not start. An error message said that I needed to reinstall windows. I backed up all my files to a flash drive, reset the laptop, and went through the recovery process. The recovery files have been downloaded to D but I cannot access any of my files (pics, documents, music, etc.). I have no idea what to do and I absolutely need those files. Help!
