Hello, Im currently having trouble installing driver on a fresh install of windows 10 on this laptop. My parent downloaded something and the laptop ceased to work. did not even boot up, always asked for boot device. I decided to do a fresh install of windows 10 64b(Build 10240) on it. After installation, obviously nothing worked (Trackpack, mouse,Internet,ETC) because I did not install drivers yet. I then proceeded to the official website for my laptop (https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-15-e1000-laptop-pc-series/model/38752935?sku=2L7R6UA) and downloaded drivers to a USB to then move it to the laptop and install. however no matter what type of "Windows 10" i chose on the website, everytime I tried to install the drivers, i was met with an error saying "Wrong Windows version" I tried every single option on the website (Ver. 1909/ ver 2004/ 10 S / Ver 20H2) but they all came up with the same error. I dont know what to do now, i feel as if the computer is bricked.

The only thing I can come up with is that maybe these notebooks need a specific version of Windows 10 on them? The version I installed is the same version as is on my Desktop PC. If thats the case, how do i know what type of windows 10 the Notebook needs?

Hi:

I recommend that you use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came the PC.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Microsoft Store Apps

If you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter the notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.

Your PC's product number is 2L7R6UA#ABL

If you want to manually install the drivers, you can usually get around those 'OS gatekeepers' by updating the driver from each device that needs drivers and browsing to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.

Make sure that the include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install that way.

Im not sure a cloud recovery will work, as I completely wiped the partition of windows that was previously installed onto the harddrive and installed a different version. Also the computer has no way to connect to the internet due to not being able to install drivers, and not having an ethernet port built into it.

You create the recovery media on another PC.

Is the recovery media just an HP specific tool? or a specific OS for hp laptops? Is it going to work on the laptop in which I completely wiped the original OS from the hardrivey and installed the custom windows i had on a flash drive?
