Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer other than clean installing W10, would be, with another Windows PC, and a 32 GB USB flash drive, make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool.

This will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use that utility...

Dont know what the means really.  Am I to use another laptop as long as it has windows 10 (64) on it

HP Recommended

Yes, I think you can use a notebook or desktop PC with W7 or newer.

It has to be 64 bit though.

does it have to be an HP laptop?

HP Recommended

Nope.

I've personally used a Dell PC to create the media for a HP 255 G7 business class notebook using the cloud recovery tool.

so any reason why this recovery media I ordered from HP is not working.  What makes creating another recovery media will work.

I have no idea, and no one else on this forum will either.

You can see this related discussion where the HP recovery media didn't work and the cloud recovery tool created media did.

There are several others like this one but this was the most recent one I solved.

ok then another question is that if this does work.  I have a windows 8.1  (64)  hopefully it will work.  Would I be able to get my money back from the media that was sent to me?
