HP Notebook 15-dy1091wm

My laptop crashed and on restarting it is giving a message that BIOS is corrupt. The message tells me to create a USB drive using instructions from this page

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833

I am following the directions from the above link exactly. I downloaded the BIOS file from the HP Download page - sp139140.exe file, on a working computer. When I run this file, it prompts me to accept the license agreement then a location to save files. After these steps, it just doesn't do anything. As per the instructions, it should prompt for creating a recovery USB drive. The USB drive drive is plugged in, but I don't get the prompt. I tried running this exe on 3 different computers, but the same thing happens.

In the Save location, that was asked when running the above exe file, is another exe file - 864B. Running this exe file doesn't do anything either.

Not sure what I am missing here. Please help.

Thank You.

It seems there might be an issue with the BIOS recovery file possibly and an alternative fix will be to set the system to factory settings using a Windows 10 installation CD.

There is a resource on Amazon you can try. I can share the link with you if you will like to purchase a recovery disk to make the process easier for you. 1 (1).PNG

Thanks for your prompt reply.

My laptop does not have a CD drive, this won't work for me.

Okay, at this point to prevent any further errors you have to get the PC fixed at an HP service center. That will be much better I believe.
